NAV Setup Error

By Kegz ·
I have uninstalled NAV v5 because auto-protect would not enable. Trying to reinstall NAV, the following error occurs:
'UnInstaller setup failed to initialise. You may not be able to uninstall this product'.
Click OK to this error, and it takes youback to the desktop. NAV will not install. I have tried removing all reference to NAV in the registry but still the error occurs. This is happening on Windows NT 4 with SP3 (updating SP is not really an option). I have tried different copies of NAV 5 on CD. Any ideas would be gratefully accepted.

NAV Setup Error

Kegz,
Ok, I'm curious, why can't you update your service pack? I have that problem too. Client has a "Standard Configuration" that is forever behind the latest service pack <grin> That aside, is your NAV v5 a re-install over an older package, or a completely new installation? If your trying to Upgrade, take a different tact. DeInstall the existing NAV, and do a completely new Install. You might want to try this on a non-production platform first? You don't say what Platform you are installing on, so I can't speculate as to OS particular tweeks. Good luck!
enjoy :) mlv//Mark LeVeck, http://www.chm.net mailto:mark460@trdesk.com 314.495.8296

Check Symantecs tech faqs. They have a document on there on both of the problems you mentioned above. I happened to be looking ofr aproble I was having with NAV 5.0 and remember seeing those. They give some very extensive fixes/workarounds to get you going. www.symantec.com support choose Nav5 on NT 4 and then choose FAQS.
