Struck a problem when installing Win 98 on a new PC. The system will not boot when any new hardware drivers are added – in this case Geforce 4 video drivers for Win 98. The offending file that causes the grief is of course NDIS.VXD. This appears to be known bug in Win 98 when installed with CPUs greater than 2.1GHz (the client has a 2.4GHz) but I have been unable to obtain a patch from Microsoft due to the poor timing of this problem – the Easter holidays. One added complication is that I need the patch for the Australian Version as I have managed to obtain a patch for the US version but it will not install. Any ideas or patches appreciated.
