Need Advice on Implementing DevOps Practices in a Small Team

Hello there,

I am part of a small software development team looking to implement DevOps practices to improve our development processes. We currently use a combination of manual testing and deployment methods; but we recognize the need to streamline our processes and improve collaboration between our development and operations teams.

Also, I have gone through this; https://www.techrepublic.com/resource-library/ebooks/implementing-devops-a-guide-for-it-pros-free-pdf/ which definitely helped me out a lot.

We are particularly interested in tools and best practices that would be suitable for a small team like ours. Our main goals are to increase the frequency of deployments, reduce lead time for changes; and improve the reliability of our software releases.

Recommended tools for CI/CD pipelines that are easy to set up and maintain for a small team.
Best practices for integrating automated testing into our development workflow.
Tips for improving communication and collaboration between developers and operations teams.

We would greatly appreciate any advice or recommendations from those who have successfully implemented DevOps practices in similar environments.

Is there is no one size fits all solution. For example the test tools differ from Android to iOS to Windows to Linux to what else?

So there’s no correct answer to your question as presented UNLESS we talk about how you bring in another team member to focus on DevOps.

And there’s the rub. In all the teams I’ve been on, DevOps hasn’t resulted in less cost. Go figure.

Try using a CI/CD tool like Jenkins, CircleCI, or Azure DevOps.
