Greeting all hardware specialists out there.
I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900 running Windows Server 2003 R2.
Currently it has 2 gigs of 533 ram.
Usage is sitting around 1.8, so I have to upgrade.
The 2003 server will only support 4 gigs, right?
That gives me three options.
I can buy 2 gigs of 533. 2 gigs of 667 or 4 gigs of 667. (each sold in two units, 2 one gig, or 2 two gig sticks)
The 2 gigs of 533 would run me $137
The 2 gigs of 667 would run me $144
The 4 gigs of 667 would run me $200
For that little difference, I have a hard time buying the 533, even if the 667 will run at the 533, right? Or should it match for best results?
If it SHOULD match, that would make the 4 gig purchase the way to go?
And of course, is there a measurable difference that a human could detect between the 533 and the 667?
Thanks!
