need to create a 48 port-switch diagram?

I have just started at a small company and been tasked with noting the ports everyone is using and tidying up the cable cupboard as well as documenting this. The company will not shell out for Visio and I need to create a diagram of the setup, whilst also learning how to map all ports........any help greatly recieved. Thanks in advance everyone

Hi Georgey,
You can get a free trial of Visio 2010 from the MS Office site.

Alternatively, just use Excel. That's what I always used to do.

is usually good enough, and you can add columns for whatever you need - user, location, equipment, etc

It is now apparent from finding all floor and wall points that a number of people have been labelling these points at different times and to be honest its a mess. Looks like an overhaul of the patch panel and switches could be on the cards. I have noted all users in the office, now trying to work out the best way to proceed!
