need to disable internet for computers, not users via A.D.

By pitbullblonde ·
I have a group of computers in A.D. which I need to block internet access on. I don't want to block it in the users properties, as the users are allowed to use the internet on some machines, just not on the machines used for ACJIS lookups - how can it set a policy for this container of just computers?

Policy Example

Here is a link to do this through a fake Proxy. Most Sys admins prefer to use the local loopback 127.0.0.1. You may also want to forbid the installation of other browsers.

Group Policy

by Michael O'Brien In reply to need to disable internet ...

Move the computers into a new OU, Define a new Group policy object to point to fake Proxy settings that wont work. Restrict access to Internet Options in internet explorer.

You should be all set then

One Way

Is to set them as static IP addresses and remove the default gateway. No way to get around that.
