Am using our only phone for a lot of online use.
Trying to find a way to know that there is an incoming call on a land line while I’m online.
I understand that v.92 modems solve this problem. But in the UK most ISPs don’t use v.92 yet. Also Ihave a v.90 modem in my laptop.
Have a Call Wating signal being supplied by BT (British Telecom). Have heard that this will disconnect some modems when an incoming call is being attempted. But I’ve tried two different modems and they are not disconnected.
Any solution will do
– Cause the modem to be disconnected
– Get the PC to ‘see’ the incoming call (i.e. See the Call Wating signal)
– Put something else on the telephone line that will see the Call Waiting signal while a modem is on the line
– etc?
