netfinity 5000 HDD problems

By jenny.clow ·
Hi all
I have a netfinty 5000 8659 1sy that has a hard drive problem.
Every time I start up the unit it cannot find any of the harddrives even tho when I start the system the harddrives spin up and I cannot seem to find the problem anywhere

could anyone help me
I don't really need to have a RAID configuration as I only want it as a home file server

HDD failure

Double check the jumper bergs on the back of the hard drive, near the interface cable, be sure
they are set properly, be sure the orientation
is correct for that unit, some are horozontal
andsome are vertical, it all depends on the
individual unit. Make sure the data cables
are fully seated, and that the ribbon cable
is proper, the stripe indicates the #1 pin,
that should orient closest to the power
connector. Double check the BIOS to see
if they are being detected, and sensed as the
right parameters.

Well after having a serch thru the discussion center I found that other people have been having problems with trying to install windows nt on there netfinitys (witch is what I am trying to do) so maybe it is not a HDD problem after all so I will have to have a go with W2K
but thaks for your reply

Make sure cable is connected

I had the same problem and turned out the hard drive cable was not connected to the planar(motherboard), once connected system works fine.
