Netscape "No Cookies" will not load

By gmichaels ·
I have a home user client who says he cannot browse the internet with Nestscape because it keeps telling him he "has no cookies". Apparently a brother was staying with them. When he moved out he tried to "clean up" his internet footprint on the machine and left them in this situation. He tried an uninstall/reinstall and that did not work. He is ready to take drastic measures and wipe the hard drive. Seems to me that is a bit extereme. So, the question is how can you really clean Netscape all off the system so that a reinstall will not be picking up legacy settings/preferences.

The first thing I'd do, is try deleting and recreating the mail profile. Go to Start, Programs, Netscape Communicator, Utilities, Netscape Profile Manager.

Delete the profile there, and then try recreating it. It's solved pretty much every problem I've had with netscape.

Hope this helps,
Gary

In netscape navigator, go to Edit --> Preferences and highlight Advanced. Then look at the "Cookies" paragraph (lower box) and make sure that cookies have not been disabled. If they have been, then just re-enable them (uncheck the box) or check the box that says "accept all cookies"

That should resolve the problem without having to uninstall, reinstall or wipe the hdd.
