netware logon problem

you might want to check what the max number of users the server allows to be loged in at once (your license), you also might want to see if the people that can not log in, can on a different computer, if not you might want to see what the users maximum multi logons is set at if one, you might want to change that. You might want to restart the server if none of these work. That sometimes will solve the problem. I am not sure about the email.

You haven't said what type of server, version, workstations, clients or e-mail packages.. There are many possible reasons why users can't log in: Mismatch of frame types between workstations and server; insufficient number of licenses on server; routing issues between subnets; intruder lockout; wrong user ids and passwords. I would first check the obvious, make sure the user is typing the correct id and password. After that I would check to see if the problem follows the user when they attempt to login from a different workstation. Also check to see if anyone can login from a 'bad' workstation. If the problem follows the user, then it is a problem with that user ID. If the problem stays with the workstation, then it is a configuration issue with the workstation or the network. The e-mail problem could be caused by the e-mail package trying to find the network and timing-out, giving the appearance of system lockup.

First do you get a logon screen? If not then you have a connectivity problem.

Second as previously mentioned check your licences and ensure you have enough on the server.

if not I would ensure everyone could log on only once to test if all licences are being used before the effected systems logon.

Need more info on the E-Mail problem. e.g. Email server software, Client Software ect...
