Network Authentication

By cinch_cowboy00 ·
I support a wireless network that currently has approx. 150 users and allows anyone with wireless access to access our network. I am looking for some kind of auth. that when a user pulls up a browser they are redirected to a secure page and have to enter a user id and password. Any Ideas? Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you are not limiting anyones' access to the network, but you want to authorize use of the internet? If this is the case, then it would seem that you need to set up ids and passwords on a proxy server (using ssl) and set your firewall to only recognize traffic from the proxy server.
Some firewalls have password authentication built into them. Check out Sonicwall and see if that fits your needs.

We have gotten around that by setting an Encryption key on all of our Access Points. It does mean you have to enter the encryption on all the wireless users too, but it keeps outsiders accessing your network.
