network cable unpluged

hi all
i have problem with network cable.i have DSL connection speedtouch 585 v6 modem.and me and my friend share connection.everything was fine but one day my friend changed the RJ45 connector now problem is he is not getting connection at all local area connection shows cable is unpluged we changed RJ45 10 time but same problem someone told us to change cable CAT5 to CAT6 we cahnged the cable still facing same problem he is 150 meter far from my home he has toshiba laptop we tried to plug network cable to another computer is same problem.we use straight cable 1.white orange orange 2white green blue 3white blue green 4white brown brown.same color other side

You may want to try a shorter cable (less than 100 meters) to confirm everything else in your setup is fine. Without a repeater (hub or switch will do), cat5 cable is only certified to 100 meters in length per segment, longer than that, you may experience problems like what you desrcibe.

thaks jtakiwi i removed that cable and pluged it to modem to my computer (same lenth 150 meter)its working and i can browse internet.do i need to use repeater? this cable is CAT6 i am really confused whats going on why this cable not working with my friend's computer we already tried to pluged it another computer its same problem if the cable is faulty then why it is working when i pluged it driectly modem to my computer?

CAT^ will support a slightly longer run but even still that would be close to the upper limit.

Try bringing your friends computer to your place and see if it works it's always possible that something has been done to prevent the LAN connection working and the one that it was tested with has either a damaged LAN socket or it's disabled or not properly installed. If you could take a known good NB over to the end of this cable run and plug it in if it works the problem is isolated to the computers at that end and the cable is perfectly OK.

thank you HAL i was waiting for your reply.as i mention i already checked it to my place but its working only with desktop computer LAN (3com) and i tried it to connect to HP laptop does not get ip address and when i try to repiar it windows can not repair it.
