Network is working internet is not (not 100%)

By Snuffy09 ·
Working on an xp SP3 home machine with 1gb ram
connected directly to a DSL modem (DHCP). I had it on a router and switch before and the same thing was happening.

once the computer is restarted the internet will work for about 5-10 mins then all of a sudden i get page cannot be displayed messages. i can however talk to other computers on my network endlessly.

any ideas what could be wrong???

thank you

Try turning off the Phishing Filter

And lowering the security on the Browser.

I've seen several examples where this Malfunctions and causes the No Connection page to appear.

first of all
I would make sure your modem is compatible
with your ISP
you should take your modem to your isp
and let them adjust it for you on their system.
most of the time this has to do with
the modem being incompatible with the ISP.

(referring to your ip )ask if your on static or dymanic at your isp
you might be dynamic at home but static
at your isp or vice versa.
they should a complete check on your port
on their end and the status of your isp as well.

well this is enough info for now
do the above and we will take it from there
but please give me the reply from your isp.
give me more info as much info as you can so i can help you solve this problem rather so we can help you

ill wait for you to post your reply

its the same modem i have always had given to me by my ISP. Static public ip, DHCP Private IP

My Xp computer works fine (internet). It is the XP home computer that has the problem where the internet just stopped working after a few mins.

I think i got it. it was either corrupt AV program or .net framework 3.5. M$ updates would not let me update to .net framework sp 1 so i uninstalled 3.5. Then the update completed without errors.

Internet has been working ok now.
