What make and model printer?

How is the printer connected to the network?

How is the network set up?

Basically, any user connected to the network can be allowed to use any device connected to the network.
For some devices, passwords or permissions need to be used.

For printers, you run the add printer dialog, select networked printer, and browse to the printer location on the network.

For devices connected to another computer on the network, the PC with the device needs to have sharing enabled.
The second PC needs to be part of the same work group.

If your present network just consists of a cable / DSL modem that connects to your PC with a network cable, you will need to add at least a switch / hub in order to add more networked devices.

Is the printer hooked to someone's computer or it it by itself?

If it is connected to someone's computer, then they need to share the printer. Then you just need to find the computer on the network and add it to your printer list.

*Note that your internet cable will probably be hooked into a router\hub for a network and the internet will be given to everyone over the network.
