Network printer

By nitin_srivastava23 ·
have users at the company who cannot print to the network printer that we have setup on the domain. Our environment involves mostly XP users with one Vista user connect Server 2003 SP2. The printer of course has a static IP correctly set in HP networking, with the following option selected bidirectional support, spool print documents so program finishes printing faster, start printing after last page is spooled, print spooled documents first and enable advance printing features. I already tried changing "spool print documents so program finishes printing faster" to "print directly to the printer" but the same result happened. I also made sure that the server has the most up to date drivers for this printer.

Users were able to print ok before without any problems and there was nothing that I know of has changed. Users can add the printer ok (connect to) from the server to their profile. Whenever they print any kind of file the job will stay in the que and not print. In order to get the jobs to print I have to remote to the appropriate server and restart the printer pool through services. After restarting the printer pool all jobs in the que will successfully print. Does anybody have any troubleshooting ideas to look at?

Check the obvious

Just want to check the obvious.
Is this printer shared thru a print server or are all machine configured to print directly to the printer?
Can you ping the address of the printer with no failures? Does a continuous ping show dropped packets?
Do all users have the problem or just a few?
Is the problem hit or miss or is it total now?
