Network Share from non Domain PC

By KR15 ·
I'm trying to access a share on W2K3 server from a non Domain PC. I can get to the share via unc and it asks for a username and password. It doesn't matter what I enter it will not authenticate. I've tried administrator (also with the domain) and created a new account. This is not a permission problem. The same share can be accessed fine with the admin account on a Domain PC. It does not create an entry in eventvwr for failed login.

This does not appear to be domain wide either. Shares on other PCs can be accessed using the same method. It is only the one Domain controller that is having the issue.

I'm assuming then, that there is something in the Local policy that is preventing access to shares. I had a look but not sure what I am looking for and nothing really hit me as a candidate.

As a side note, I came across this problem when trying to setup a Trust. It can only be setup one way but will not verify due to authentication. I suspect they are both linked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
