I’m starting a new job as a Network / IT Administrator of 60+ users on 4 floors.
This position has been vacant for the past 8+ months (long story). As an extra kick in the pants, there isn’t any documentation about the current setup. I will also be providing desktop support.
What resource can I research for some guidance as to what to do first, i.e., map network, query server status, verify security, etc.
Which software package does everyone else use for network monitoring? As for the desktops, I want to know what OS, SP level, Patch level, installed apps, etc.
Any ideas?
