Whether you are going to place a vanilla Server build or make customisations along the way, there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

1) Ensure you have documentation for every single configuration change you make to the server, in an event where things don’t look right, you can always refer back to the documentation to see if you have missed any step along the way.

2) Ensure you have secured your server from potential external and internal attacks including Physical attacks ( if the server is going to hold mission critical data).

3) Anti Virus Software & Firewall

4)A Plan for data backup and restoration (In an event where you lose data \ data goes corrupt)
