New server cannot access the internet

    Locked

    by dabearsdabulls ·

I currently have a server running windows server 2003 and another server running windows server 2000 on the same domain. I just purchased a new server and installed SBS 2008 Premium and wanting to make a second domain. With it being on the same network it will not access the internet. It only shows local. I am using Sonic Wall. What can I do to get past this.

      Where does connectivity stop?

Does it go to another server for DNS, or does it run DNS server itself? Does it connect directly to the Sonicwall? Can it ping the Sonicwall? Does the Sonicwall (or other server) see it?

We don’t know what you did to set it up, or anything about your network configuration, or any error messages. You need to tell us.

But if you can find where an attempt to connect to the internet stops, you have your best clue.

Use the tracert command to see what happens with a packet when you send it into the “net”. Try tracert yahoo.com. You will have the answer to your question.
