(!this is NOT urgent!)
Hi guys & girls,
I got hold of a copy of Server 2003 and want to install it at home, just to fool around with. I’d like to install a DC, a DNS, a DHCP, a file, a RAS & a mail server. I have rummaged through my hardware & assembled 3 computers, I’m going to use my home computer (XP Pro) as test-client, and I have set up a website with external hosting & mail. I use a Belkin ADSL-router as connection to the internet & switch, I don’t use the wireless part.
1. What server combinations are ‘best practise’?
2. What do I need to consider when setting up the mailserver to work together with the website?
3. Are there any naming conventions and/or internal IP-ranges to consider?
4. What to keep in mind when setting up a RAS-server?
These are very general questions, but I need only ‘general’ answers and/or tips, whatever comes to mind…
Thanks for any feedback!
