Senior J2EE Software Architect



The NFL Digital Media Group is seeking an experienced hands-on Software Architect to join the Infrastructure and Software Architecture team.

Projects/Products:
The architect will primarily work with NFL's 2 flagship products: nfl.com and the club sites platform. Necessary skills include Java/J2EE, Content Management Systems, high volume web applications, refactoring existing systems.

Job Responsibilities:
** Work with Stakeholders and business analysts to guide business and functional requirements based on technical expertise
** Work with technical leads to create and document technical architectures and detailed designs that meet functional and non-functional requirements such as
- scalability
- fault tolerance
- monitoring
- deployability
- maintainability
** Provide expert knowledge of technical and middleware architecture and help select technolgies when necessary
** Mentor leads/engineers on appropriate design and coding principles
** Review designs and code
** Write high-quality code
** Refactor code to add functionality and/or improve design

Minimum Qualifications:
** Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related discipline. Graduate Degree a plus.
** 7+ years demonstrated software development experience, primarily in Java and related technologies
** Excellent communication skills - written and oral
** Expertise in object oriented design
** Experience with RDBMS and SQL, in particular Oracle 10g
** Expertise in Java/J2EE and related technologies including JDK 1.5 or 1.6
** Expertise in building scalable web applications
** Experience building applications that take advantage of caching and Content Delivery Networks (CDN) such as Akamai
** Experience with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate, JPA, or Toplink
** Experience designing and building applications with open source frameworks and tools such as:
- Spring
- Hibernate
- Maven
- Lucene and Solr
** Experience with XML and related technologies such as XSD, XSLT, etc
** Experience with Content Management Systems such as Documentum or Interwoven
** Experience building event-driven systems with JMS or an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), for example Mule
** Ability to learn new technologies
** Excellent problem solver
** Familiarity with online media and sports industry a plus
