Nividia GForce2 problems

By snogame ·
I have an system running XPHome with a Nividia GForce2 MX400 video card. I have had this video card installed with no problems for over 6 months. Now the machine boots fine until the video driver is loading, at which it reboots. I can only get logged into safe mode. I have unintstalled the driver and reinstalled the downloaded xp driver from the Nivida site. No help. I have removed the hardware but XP automatically finds the hardware and reinstalls the suspect driver. How can I turn of autodetect hardware in XP and/or what can I do to solve this?

You can disable plug and play in the BIOS. This should let you boot without XP installing the card.

Is it NVidea's card or just their chipset on another card such as an Xtasy board or Compaq's AGP card?

If the latter, you are better off usingthe card manufacturer's drivers instead of NVidea's.

Nvidia drivers are hard to uninstall, there are program for this, to get all of them. Also, there is a release of some new beta drivers just this last week, they seem to have solved my problems. (version 4.14.10.4403)
