No drag and drop on the desk top.

By diskfailure ·
This is an NT machine. 4.0 with SP 5. Office 97 and IE 5.0 with SP 1. No virus can be found with anti virus software. Antivirus was updated 9/11/00. I am not able to drag and drop on the desktop at all. I can click a doc but cannot paste. I have uninstalled IE 4.0 and replaced with IE 5.0 SP 1, reinstalled mouse drivers. Power supply is good. Mouse works fine on other machines. Very strange. Please help.

I've seen similar issues before. Ther are usually caused by a problem with the Microsoft C Runtime Libraries. What usually happens is that a user installs new software and it replaces one of more of the DLLs that make up the libraries. You can correct the problem by downloading and installing the latest version of the libraries from Microsoft's web site. Try this url http://www.microsoft.com/NTServer/nts/downloads/recommended/MFCLibrary/default.asp or search the site with "libraries update"

Hi,

I would download IE 5.01 and SP1 from Windows Update. That should reslove your problem.

Microsoft is pushing IE 5.5, but I do not recommend downloading it now. It is still full of bugs and causing a lot of people headaches who are using it.

Good luck!

If you have Microsoft Office on your
Pc try running offfice clean from your
Office cd in the valuepack folder. Then make
Sure in program files folder you delete the
Microsoft office folder then reinstall MS Office.
For some reason this will fix you copy and paste problem
Even in other programs.
