No Service Packs in WSUS updates

By kevin_h ·
I have recently set up a test environment for for WSUS which all seemed to go without any problems.

There is one PC that requires a Service Pack update (From XP SP1 to SP2) and I have just noticed that there are no service packs in the list of updates on the WSUS server. I synchronised the WSUS server again just to be sure and still no SP's listed.

Any thoughts on this?

Cheers.

I know Microsoft is really pushing for the validation. Not sure if they have taken this to the new level or not. I've heard rumors of them doing this to where the install must be validated before any updates will take place.

personally I prefer to download the full sp2 update and install for network or CD.

Open WSUS console.
Click on "Options" in uper right hand corner.
Choose "synchronization options"
Under "Update classifications" click "change"
Make certain "Service Packs" has a check in it.
Run a synchronization.
Approve applicable updates/service packs
