Norton's PCAnywhere Setup Questions

By cglrcng ·
Looking for anyone who's had a lot of experience w/ Norton's PCAnywhere 10.5 setup of both the Remote & Host(and the pitfalls of using the wrong setup), that has a little time and can help me w/ the setup via IM or chat. Both machines have the complete professional edition of the software installed, both are sitting right beside me. One is on a Speedstream modem/DSL line using USB hookup instead of the installed ethernet card (this is the remote), the other is on a modem/dial-up connection (this is the host and will be installed across town). Both use the same ISP and have different login's & passwords. I have Belarc Advisor on both so I have a reading of the IP Addresses each use.

We could start @ 150 points for written directions and work our way up from there for actual real time IM help depending on how much time it takes for the set-up solution. I have the points and am not afraid to award them. I also work fast & smart, just that networking isn't my strong suit.

Thanx all.

Norton's PCAnywhere Setup Questions

Check to see that the color scales are set the same on both the host and remote software. Also both will need to be set to TCP/IP. If you want a AOL chat my name is OKDave1955. I have used PcAnywhere extensively accross T1 and dialup since version 8 and pesently setup computer systems on 10.5. If there are any routers on the systems these could be causing problems you are having.

TY Dave, I can use your help then. I was successful in setting up the remote (My Computer) as I have been able to connect to & control 2 of symantec's test units (both via modem & TCP/IP via my DSL. But I don't seem to have a handle on the host setup for some reason. Will try you on AIM.Points will be modified & rewarded upon completion.

I found that out right after I chatted w/ you, strange I was able to connect then, it seems Symantec missed that little bit of info in the directions.

Point value changed by question poster. Dave, ty for your help. I was able to connect via modem to modem from a call initiated the host side w/ the remote set @ waiting and take full control of the host w/ the remote which is all I really need @ this point until I learn a little more about the program. I think it's more a modem wake up problem w/the host(s) modem.

Thank You Again! Awarding 250 points for the effort. If you don't mind I'll keep your AIM name handy for this issue.
