NT authority shutting me down dcom server process launcher

by major_mimbob . Updated 17 years, 11 months ago

Hi there, please can someone help me or offer me some advice before i go completely mad.

I went away for the weekend, leaving the family computer in the hands of my father (a mistake to begin with), when i got back,

everytime the compter is loaded up a message from NT AUTHORITY comes up, proclaiming that ‘dcom server process launcher’ has a problem por something, it then shuts down in 60 seconds. This happens everytime without fail.

Ive looked online, and it says one of two thing: a worm, (which i have run the blaster worm erwmover to no avail) or that i have a KillAV trojan.

The thing that is really puzzling is that on my account, the warning comes up but i can get rid of it with shutdown -a, and i can most of the time go online etc…., i can spysweep and wash my files. However on my dads account, i cannot sweep, as it says it is not installed properly, and i cannot clean the files etc….

So i am thinking that it i my dads account that is infected… i dont know how to proceed now as i am at my wits end….

Any suggestions would be so so helpful thanks for your time
