NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM INITIATED SHUTDOWN

by wtcr . Updated 22 years, 11 months ago

About 10 or so minutes after logging onto the internet, (using dialup), I keep

getting a windows pop-up window telling me the computer will be shutting down in

45 sec. And it does.

The box says:

{“System shutdown
This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any

unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.
Time before shutdown: 00:00:45
Message
Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service

terminated unexpectedly.”}

Somebody please tell me what is going on. It is really bothering me.

I am using Windows XP Professional.

Thanks and Regards

Sue
