NT User policy Editor

Dear Members

I can't understand how to use the policy editor. I created a policy and saved it in the profiles directory of the user, but it didnpt work. I tried to put the .pol file in the Netlogon directory. But I recived a message

"Cannot Copy, access denied", I am the administrator who could deny rights to me?

1) don't put the .pol file in the user profile - it won't read it from there, plus, you don't want a user to be able to edit their own policy file.
2) the netlogon share is restricted, so don't try and copy to it via the share. Copy it directly toc:\winnt\system32\repl\export\scripts. also copy it to the import\scripts. also copy it to these folders on all other BDC's (if replication is working, it will eventually do this for you, but if you only have a couple of BDC's, I'd do it manually).
3) be careful of how multiple pol's are applied. start with just one policy. then try adding a second, and so on, until they are working correctly.

again, make sure you are editing the ntconfig.pol in the export and import dir's of all DC's, or else you're not going to be able to effectively test your changes.

good luck,
-scott
