    NTFS/Shared permission question

    Hi Everyone,

    (Using Windows 2003 server.)
    How do you give a user access to a subfolder only;

    Let’s say you have “Main Folder” and in it, you have “Folder1”, “Folder2” ,etc.
    You wan the user to be able to view “Main Folder” but only view and have access to “Folder1”.
    How do you accomplish that using NTFS or shared permissions????
    Thank you in advance.

      1- At the NTFS permissions for the Main folder give the user the permissions you want.
      2- At the NTFS permissions for the subfolders deny access to these folders for that user.
      3- clear the permission inheritance check box at the subfolder level.

      and you are done…

      cheers,

      Thank you omar.. That worked.
      This process is much simpler in Novell’s NWadmin by the way.
