Offline Files & VPN

by stormrage . Updated 19 years, 3 months ago

Hi,

Is there a policy that anyone is aware of that would prevent “traveling users'” from synchronizing offline files with the server when they establish a VPN connection.

This being as some users have offline files totalling over 3GB, that then wish to sync with the server the moment they establish a VPN connection….

I am aware that this can be prevented by running “mobsync” and “configuring” not to sync on certain connections. This have to be done manually at each machine and checked every time a new connection is configured at that machine.

The same problem is experienced when “traveling users” work temporarily at a branch where there is a site-to-site VPN connection between the branches. As their local LAN connection allows for synchronization, massive amounts of data is then “synched” between the branches.

Preferably these “traveling users” should be using their local offline file cache, until they are back at their respective branch.

Any idees please?
