Offline Folder Sync

Offline Folder Sync:
I have recently successfully added a Win2003 Server to a Win2000 Domain, converted the domain to a 2003 AD Domain (Adprep/Forestprep etc) and all that good stuff. I have moved all of the data including user home directories etc from the Win2000 DC to the Win2003 DC and from that perspective all is working wonderfully. However, we have a few people in the organisation who are out of the office a lot and take advantge of the offline folder syc capabilties. This all worked well and good until I switched all the data over to the 2003 server and disabled all the shares on the old (2000) server. Offline Folder sync on the XP Workstaions (in question) was still trying to contact the old server and the catch 22 was that the users couldn't disable syncing offline folders with the old server until I re-enabled the shares on the old server. So I re-enable the shares on the old server and the users could then turn off offline folder syncing. I then got these users to recreate Offline folder sync to their respective home drive folders to the new server and although there is "everyone" full control share access to the parent (home folder) and "full control" security to their respective home directories they get "access denied" when trying to syc. There is not problem for them accessing their respective home directories through their mapped H: drives when looged on to the domain. I, myself, never envoked offline folder setup on my own account on the old server but I have set it up on the new Win2003(new server) and it works without a hitch. I have sifted through all of the access permissions, I have not set up any group policy objects so I am in a bit of a quandry. Can anyone please assist?

See KB230738 - it describes resetting the Offline settings. You will have to reboot and add the correct settings. I am also looking for an answer to this before I swap servers. For the last part you should check the new server's folder properties for the sync folders. Go to the Sharing tab and check the Offline Settings, make sure caching isn't disabled.
