Oki printer problem w/mail labels in XP

by suzie . Updated 22 years, 10 months ago

My company uses an Okidata 320 Turbo dot matrix printer to run our mailing labels. The labels are the standard, pin-fed 3.5″ x 15/16″ labels. After a switch to new PCs and Win XP Pro, we can no longer print the labels. After much investigation, calls to Okidata, searching Microsoft’s knowledge base, etc., I’ve come to the conclusion that the XP printer driver, while it allows me to create the custom paper size definition and apply it, it does not enable the printer to function properly. I get either garbled printouts, skipped characters, skipped labels, creeping down the label, etc.

Okidata does not provide it’s own driver to work with XP, so it seems I may be out of luck.

Does anyone have suggestions for a workaround with this printer and XP Pro?

Currently, we have just stopped using the Oki and are running those expensive sheet-feed labels through the laser printer. It’s expensive and the adhesive on those labels is not good for the printer when heated and curled through the paper path.

Any suggestions? What are others doing to print mailing labels with XP?
