Excellent article, Erik! Just a few notes:

* For removing the I/O shield blank, I normally use a hammer and an old screwdriver in order to knock the panel out.
Screwdriver can be placed near one of the shield joints break it off, then proceed to the next joint.

* In the photo-sequence, you mentioned that the original 400-watt P/S was unable to turn on the CPU fan. However, later it turned out to be a bad switch/wiring problem. I'm curious about the capacity of the new power supply.

* The photo sequence mentions RAM as 4GBx2. However, four DIMMS are shown in the photo. Is the memory 2GB x 4?

* The Intel mobo/RAM doesn't state if the RAM is ECC-type. However, probably doesn't matter for your project.

* Your brother may have been upset because I read somewhere that Star Trek fans like to be known as "Trekkers," and that calling them trekkies is very insulting to them!
