Open mail relay

I’m a little confused with why my internet provider cannot provide me with an smtp server which does not require authentication…

I recently switched to acanac.com from sympatico.ca for my dsl internet access – and now I’m no longer able to get emails from my (old) Axis 200+ IP neteye camera.

I can certainly understand the spam issues with opem mail rely – but there must be a way for my dsl provider to know the request is legitimate… after all Bell’s sympatic smpt ip i used while i was using them as a provider worked without one… and it doesn’t work anymore now that I’m not using them as my internet provider.

any insight how I can accomplish sending the email from my Axis 200+ (which is out of support, and only provides configuration for SMTP server)

any thoughts appreciated!
