Open port using a GPO?

By wancona ·
I have an inventory control software that needs to run and report back to the server. It listens on port 8099. Is there a way to open this port on all workstations using a Group Policy Object?

GPO to allow port

by ctmoore1998 In reply to Open port using a GPO?

In Domain Policy - Computer configuration\ administrtor template\ Network Connection\ domain profile\ Define port exceptions. Put in this format:
<port #>:TCP:*:enabled:<description> ie
5900:TCP:*:enabled:VNC
The above example adds the std port to allow VNC connections. Your would be:
8099:TCP:*:enabled:inventory
This will allow port 8099 on all systems.
