What OS do you currently use, and why do you consider switching to another?
It’s rather difficult to take a desktop with you to school.

      1. The one you want.

      2. Which also runs on your choice of hardware.

FIN: OS wars are so done and quite boring.

Most likely some form of Windows

Or if it is really cheap and a Chromebook the Chrome form of Android.

What you need to ask yourself is what are you using now in the way of an OS if it;s Windows Something then stick to it but if it’s Apple IOS you are sort of stuck with that to run the software you are currently using or at least the newest form of it.

First off, I wouldnt recommend Linux, but If you are used to Apple, then use that or if you wanted something simple then go with Windows, but if its for school use then ChromeOS.

For a cost-effective desktop, Windows is the best choice as it supports a wide range of schoolwork applications, games, and everyday tasks. It offers flexibility, broad software compatibility, and frequent updates. If you’re open to alternatives, Linux (like Ubuntu) is free and great for productivity, but it has limited gaming support. macOS is solid but only available on pricier Apple devices.

For school ChromeOS is the easiest to use next to probably Windows you can save money getting Windows 10 but for travel a Macbook with MacOS is great too. Whatever is the easiest to use for you.
