Oracle Tablespace..

By john_bosko ·
I HAVE A SCENARIO, WHICH IS LIKE

1) I NEED TO HAVE INDEX ON A TABLE ON A DIFFERENT DISK AND TABLE IN ANOTHER DISK..

I HAVE WRITTEN THE SQL CODE, WHICH IS FINE...THE CODE IS

CREATE TABLESPACE ts1
DATAFILE 'G:\tabspace_file2.dat' SIZE 20M
DEFAULT STORAGE (INITIAL 10M NEXT 50M
MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS 999)
ONLINE;

THE G: DRIVE ON MY PC IS MAPPED TO THE C: DRIVE ON ANOTHER SYSTEM ON THE NETWORK

THIS SQL SCRIPT IS FINE BUT WHEN I RUN IT THERE IS ANERROR WHICH SAYS..

ORA-01119 ERROR IN CREATING DATABASEFILE "G:\TABSPACE_FILE3.DAT"

O/S ERROR ACCESS DENIED

HOW DO I RECTIFY THE PROBLEM..

I HAVE MAPPED THE G: DRIVE ON MY PC WITH ANOTHER DRIVE ON THE NETWORK IT WORKS FINE.. BUT THEN WHEN I RUN THE SQL I GET THE ERROR..

MANY THANKS

Are you sure you have enough space on the G: drive?

Try a smaller SIZE.

Hi There,

Before I give you my answer, it has been a few year I have not install Oracle... but it might help you:

When you create your tablespace, that tablespace is created by oracle. Is the user oracle has permission to wtite on that drive?
Verify if you have enought space on it?

Hope this help you...
