First, thanks goes out to all who read/post/think about this issue I have. Here’s my story:
I have a Cisco-Branded HP Proliant DL380 G3 w/Windows 2000 SP4 configured in a RAID 1 Mirror. I need to break this mirror and have it boot on a G4/5.
Everything I have done to accomplish this results in a BSOD Inaccessible_Boot_Device.
Things I’ve tried include:
1) Broke the mirror – inserted one of the drives into another G3 – it boots fine as expected.
2) Moved same drive to G4 – BSOD – no matter what boot option I choose.
3) Using Safe mode on the G3 – Removed the 5i RAID driver and installed the 6i driver – BSOD
4) Installed the latest PSP from HP – BSOD
5) Using Safe mode on the G3 – Ran DEVCON to remove all device drivers from Device Manager in safe mode – BSOD
6) Used Smart Start CD on G4 to clear all ROMs and NVRAM – BSOD
I am out of ideas – well – at least those that we can do. We can’t upgrade to 2003 because the software isn’t compatible. We can’t stat from scratch on the new server because a) it’s mission critical and cannot go down and b) nobody knows how to re-configure it. I thought about sysprep but not sure if the software is attached to the GUID or SID.
Is there anyone out there in tech land that can offer any incite as to what I might try next! Apparently it can be dun because we have gotten quotes from outsource vendors that want like $50k – obviously management didn’t like that number.
As always…thanks!
