Outlook 2003 Distribution List

by aschmidt . Updated 16 years, 9 months ago

We have a user on a new machine that is having tourble with their distribution lists. The computer is a windows xp and is using outlook 2003 from the microsoft pro 2003 edition. We run off of the inhouse microsoft exchange server/.

The problem is as follows; the distribution lists loaded onto the computer and the personal settings were copied out of the application c:/user/data/microsoft/outlook folder onto the new machine. However, when sending a new message to any distribution list 2 curious things happen. First, there is no plus sign next to the list, and the list name does not appear bolded. Second, when trying to send the email, an error message is returned saying the ‘name is invalid’/.

The following things have already been tried; loaded exchange profile onto another machine. After doing this the distribution lists do not function properly, however, the expand function does, and once expanded the email sends. This tells me the addresses are infact entered properly and a size limit has not been reached. The second thing I have already tried is deleting and recreating the Outlook address book under tools/email accounts/directory.

What other things should I look at?

thanks in advance
