Outlook backup on a network

On our Novell/Win 2000 network we're using MS Oulook. We don't have our own mail server, our ISP
manages our Emails.

I have the outlook folders(.pst files) stored on the server where it's backed up every night.
Some users complain however that when the server is down they don't have access to their contacts and other info. Storing the .pst files on their hard drive is too risky.

What do you think the best solution is??

hmm. what about having the users prepare and use outlook in off-line mode during those times? check it out at support.microsoft.com

My first question is, why is the server down during working hours enough that people are complaining that they can't access the files. Contacts as an Outlook Address Book are saved in the pst file. If user would store them in the personal address book, the are stored in a pab file that isn't included in the pst. Check to see which one your users are using.
