Outlook downloaded mails with POP3 and deleted mails from server...

By shaunrozario ·
Hello guys,

I am asking you'll for help with the greatest of need.

I set up an Microsoft outlook 2007 account for my superior in my office with his company's email account and everything was fine, but missed out on taking care that the account was to be set to IMAP and not POP3.

Hence what happened was all the mails got deleted from the company server as soon as all his messages were downloaded. What this has done now is that he cannot access his earlier emails from any other computer else other than his office desktop.

To make him happy for the time, i have exported the mails using the .pst option in outlook and made a same copy of the e-mails in his laptop. But this is only to shut him up for sometime. I need to really get his mails back to the server. Is there any way to upload the e-mails back to the company mail server or any way to get around it??????

need help and advise desperately..

Thanks in advance...

It CAN be done, yes........

Take the PST file which contains the downloaded emails over to the computer where he normally gets his email. Open his Outlook on that computer. He should see the Mailbox - username mailbox there. Now, tell Outlook to open an Outlook Data File (file, open, outlook data file) and point it to where you have the PST file stored (thumb drive?). Once the PST file is opened, highlight all emails in the PST folders and drag them to the Mailbox folders. That puts them back on the server. You'll have to go through each folder, one by one, doing this.

Alternatively, you can try the IMPORT feature in Outlook. But, I'm not sure it will allow you to import directly into the server. You might have to import to another PST file located on his computer, THEN do the drag thing up to the server's Mailbox - username.

I would change the settings on his Outlook to leave the messages on the server until permanently deleted from deleted items folder. To do this select Tools -> Account Settings -> (make sure his account is highlighted) select Change -> More Settings -> Advanced tab and check the box at the bottom to configure properly
