outlook express

By deirdre.mac.bride ·
I have all my addresses some in contacts and some just'remembered' by outlook. However I cannot open outlook or the folders. This is not a server problem. I think it may be hardware. I have tried removing some programmes and this has not helped wiht opening outlook. I think I need to move to working on another (unconnected) PC but I donot want to lose allmy email contacts or indeed the favourites. Given that I canot get in to outloook is there a way of back addresses andfavourites up these up so that I can later download them on to a new PC.

hope you can help thanks

Yes it's quite easy

Click on My Computer and open that Window then on Tools, Folder Options, View and mark Show Hidden Files & Folders. OK the change and exit out of that Window.

Then go to Documents & Settings open your Account Name then Save the Favourites to whatever and copy them across to another computer is that's what you are doing. You can just copy these directly into the Favourites Folder on the new computer and they'll be available to you when you first open IE. After that is finished select Application Data, Microsoft, Address Book and save your address out of there to whatever media that you wish move this to the other computer and copy it to a Temp Folder and then open the Address Book and import from the storage folder.

For E-Mails in Outlook Express go back to the Main Account Window and then select Local Settings, Application Data, Identities, An Alpha Numeric String, Microsoft, Outlook Express and in that folder you'll find all your .DBX files which need to be copied to some media and transfered to a temp folder on the HDD of the new computer and then imported into Outlook Express vis the File Import option in the Drop Down Menu chose IE6 Mail and then store and browse and navigate tot he store location of the e-mail and click on that and then select Import All.
