Search your computer for files ending in dbx, like inbox.dbx, deleted.dbx, etc. The location will vary depending on your operating system.

C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Application Data\Microsoft
That is the directory where all the well written, Microsoft programs, settings are stored. You should be able to find outlook express in there as well as many other programs you might want to backup as well.

With Windows 2000 and XP, the files will be stored where John stated.

For W9X, like Asyscokid stated, the folder location varies.

Older versions of Windows and OE store the user files in
Program Files\Outlook Express\

IE 5.5 and 6 store the files at
Windows\application data\microsoft\outlook express\{a string}

There will be 1 .dbx file for each folder that is in your local folders in OE plus 1 more file.

To add to what everyone else has said, please read Technet article 188854:

"OLEXP: How to Back Up the Outlook Express Address Book and Mail Folders"

It tells you how to backup the Outlook Express mail folders and the Address book, and then how to restore them on another computer.

hope this helps
