Page_Fault_Nonpaged_area BSOD

By Ravenhawk ·
When a user of a laptop (Dell Latitude 600) attempts to launch IE the screen starts to load but then the system goes into a Blue Screen with the error (as much as I can get before the system reboots itself) Page_Fault_Nonpaged_Area. No other programs are running and there should be plenty of memory available. The system is running Windows 2000 SP2, 256 MB RAM.

Idea 1:
you can find a demo disk off a magazine and try installing the latest version from disk over what you have this may fix any corrupted files

Idea 2:
the only other thing i can think of, at the minuete is to create a rescue disk and running the repair facility on the W2K disk - do this by - going to Programs - accesorries - system tools - backup
and select create rescue disk - restart PC with windows 2000 disk inserted - and run win2000 - when asked select repair mode - and repair disk option and let the program run - this should fix the problem - Hope This helps

I ended up deleted the hardware profile and restored it. This cleared up the problem.
