My user installed the Palm Desktop software(along with Hot Sync) for the Palm III on an IBM ThinkPad 770 running Office 97. After this installation, Word 97 would not open any documents quickly or properly from Explorer or My Computer.
We were getting messages like "Word encountered file corruption in (name of file). Would you like to attempt recovery?" and "Would you like to revert to the saved (filename)?"
After I uninstalled the Palm Desktop software and Word and reinstalled Word, Word began working again normally.
My user needs to HotSync his Palm though! I stumped the Palm Support techs with this question!
Any help would be appreciated.

How much RAM do you have? I have gotten this message from Word on machines that were low on resources. HotSync may cause a memory conflict. My guess would be the former of these two.
