PAN– Intel My Wifi technology — Creates unidentified network!

by victoria aut mors . Updated 16 years, 4 months ago

Hi,

I’ve been trying to set up the “my wifi” PAN technology on my Studio XPS 1640. I’m not quite sure what the problem is. Initially, I was told that no wireless adapter existed. This required updating the driver, which I did and this problem is now fixed.

Now I do have Microsoft Virtual Miniport #3 creating a network which I can access from other devices. BUT, for some reason it is labeled as an “unidentified” network. This means I can’t do file sharing, I can’t share the internet… in short, it is a useless network. And I cannot change this setting in the Network and Sharing Center.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue? I’m running Windows 7 and the adapter is the Intel 5300 AGN.

Thanks!
