Parallel/Printer ISA Card Jumpers Settin

By mailinglist ·
Greetings:

I have a paralled card with no manufacturer nor FCC# printed. All you can read is "ECP-2A V1.2". My question is, how can I set those jumpers settings according the the LPT that I want? No configuration tables printed on either front and back.

Three parts of jumpers on the card:
Group J7-J11 ~ sets of three pins
Group J15 ~ 6 sets of two pins
Group J16-J17 ~ 1 set of three pins

This is a very challenging qs, and I bet nobody knows it! Prove that I'm wrong!

Ps: Image of the card is available upon request.

Thanks,
Dean.

Hey, Bonehead,
You challenge everyone to "set those jumpers settings according the the LPT that I want?" If you bet nobody knows it, put up some money. You could also improve your proofreading.

well since you didn't tell us which orinter port you wish to direct this card to, i would enter the bios and disable any onboard printer ports temporarily, amd then using a boot disk, plug the card in and boot the machine and watch the boot up process to gather any info about ports and other system info. Since this caed is not giving you any info on the settings, you could try downloading a utility from the net that will search your hard ware for port addresses and irq status. you could also try doing this booting to windows but the length of time it takes to do this several times would be a great waste of time... but for 20 points, you may not have anything better to do...

There are alot of cards out there like yours. No onboard or paper documentation. To make your life easier, I would spend $15 and go out and purchase a card that is
1) new technology
2) has documentation
3) no headaches trying to figure out what you have

1.Go to cmos and disable your on board printer port.
2.Plug in your card and start your system. Watch the screen as you boot and it will tell you the resources used by your card.
3.Go to cmos and set your onboard port to another available address.
