password policy

By clarkd038 ·
We are controlling the policy through group policy. But we have a set of three users who require their passwords to be more strict than the rest of the users.

ex:
needs to be one character longer and expire in a shorter period of time.

Is there a way to do this without being on server '08?

GPO

If you are controlling passwords through GP, you can create a new OU, and then create a new GPO for said OU. You could then add either the PC, or the users that require unique PW's

Is this possible even though currently it is being pushed through the default domain policty?

I thought that superseeds any other changes that you make down the line?

You would want to exclude the new Ou from that existing policy. It will have none then until you create a specific policy for it. It is possible, but that does not mean that you GPO were created, and distributed in a way that will let you in your environment.

We are doing this in 2003

here are a couple of references. They don't cover exactly your case but do cover the general ideas.
