I am a tech and currently had to repair a pavilion 700 for a customer. I had to reformat the harddrive and install XP HOME OEM. I did not delete or touch that system sav partion that HP makes but I did completely erase in XP setup – the harddrive containing the OS. Those were the only two partitions. This was not done off of HP disks it was off a XP Home OEM disk using there seriel number(activation code). Now the PC comes into windows and when i am installing new devices it shutsdown. The power is stable and there are no viruses. Any ideas?
