PC Anywhere – cannot start service

by dcoyle . Updated 23 years, 6 months ago

Has anyone seen this error message before, on trying to start PC Anywhere (both 9.x and 10.x versions):
No object was specified. Maybe because you are starting Host for the first time, using Services Control Panel Applet.
To start try:
1) Specify the name of the Be a Host file (*.BHF) in start parameters for the Host, using Services Control Panel Applet.
2) Start Host from PC Anywhere manager.
3) Open a Be a Host file in Explorer.

Notes to above: I believe I could start the services, no problem up to recently. After installing VNC (a free Remote Session utility) this may have started happening. I uninstalled VNC. After that, and a re-boot, I got the above eror message (still).
I tried no.2 above to no avail. No’s 1 and 3 I’m not sure how to do…
Any help appreciated. Thx in advance!
